Description

In 2008 I decided to go back to film to help jump me out of a creative rut I was in. That and the simple fact I could not achieve the results I wanted with Digital. Not to say Digital is inferior to film in any way, It was more my inability to get the look I was seeking for with digital.

It was a frustrating prospect. I became incredibly accustom to viewing my image instantly on the back of my camera…it had become a crutch. Now with the switch back to shooting film, I felt as if I was flying blind with no ability to see the image instantly after making it.

I made this image a few months after getting an entire new camera system, the Mamiya 7ii. This is a beautiful system, but the fact that I could not review my image upon making it, as well as I actually don’t see through the lens on this system was tough. Its a medium format rangefinder, meaning you look through a small window on the side of the camera that gives you an approximate view of what you are actually shooting.

When I got the films back from this shoot I was over the moon with happiness. It gave me hope and motivation to keep on with this system and film itself.  This image was the kind I was hoping to make with this new system. Soft tones, high saturation without looking over processed, and a mystical, otherworldly look.

What type of mounting do you offer?

I currently offer 2 mounting options: Float Frame, and Hanger Mount

For the ultimate modern look, our Float Frame makes for a stunning presentation of your metal print. The brushed anodized aluminum frame floats your print 1.3″ out from the wall for an amazing look. It provides much better edge protection than the Hanger and has a more finished look. No wonder the Floating Frame is our most popular framing method! A preinstalled wire enables you to hang your print right out of the box.

Hanger mounts are great for images up to 24×30, sizes above that I require the Float Frame for added durability. The hanger mount requires a nail to securely mount the print on your wall. The Hanger provides a very economical yet effective way to hang your metal print right out of the box. The 5″x5″ aluminum Hanger floats your print 1/2″ off the wall. For prints larger than 16″x20″, the Hanger is reinforced with a black 3/4″ thick rigid backer.
